The City of Fairhope is fortunate to own its own utilities, including water & sewer, natural gas, and electric. This arrangement dates from the town’s earliest days when Fairhope was one of the first towns in the region to offer public water. Services expanded when the town began providing electricity in the 1940s and natural gas in 1950.

Today, these city departments serve a combined 14,000 customers, not only in Fairhope, but from Bay Minette to Fish River. The City of Fairhope is committed to providing quality utility services to its residents and beyond. By owning our own utilities, we are able to keep costs low, provide necessary safeguards to protect the environment, and react quickly and efficiently to customer needs.
